A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth, temporarily blocking out some or all of the Sun's light from reaching Earth. This celestial event can be a fascinating and dramatic spectacle to witness.
Worthing Astronomers are holding a FREE public event on Goring Gap in Worthing.
Our members will have their telescopes set up capturing the event in full. There will also be some telescopes that the public can safely look through that have special filters.
The event will start at 18:00 and finish at 20:30. The maximum eclipse will be at 19:14.
We have around 400 pairs of solar glasses to hand out for free so that everyone who decides to join us can safely watch this truely amazing event.
Everyone is welcome but we kindly ask that children are accompanied by an adult, and dogs are kept on leads when near the telescopes.
